The Japan Screening Day is a dedicated showcase of some of Japan’s most acclaimed and influential cinematic classics.

As part of the Japan, Country of Honour program, the Marché du Film will host the Japan Screening Day on Saturday, 16 May, offering market attendees a unique opportunity to (re)discover four landmark Japanese films from past editions of the Festival de Cannes Competition, including a Palme d’Or winner and a Special Jury Prize winner among them.

Carefully curated to highlight the richness, diversity, and enduring influence of Japanese filmmaking, the screening day brings together iconic works by some of the country’s most renowned directors, including Shohei Imamura, Kon Ichikawa, and Masaki Kobayashi.

A rare moment to revisit essential masterpieces back-to-back on the big screen in a professional context, the Japan Screening Day offers a focused space for discovery, reflection, and appreciation within the market environment.
