Synopsis: 

In a collision of rugby and music, five young men formed SIX60. With Māori roots as different as their upbringings, racist critics compound on young male egos struggling to break internationally, putting the band on a collision course with each other. Exploring what happens when aggressive ambition meets the vulnerability of creative expression, this is a contemporary story of culture, pop music and masculinity.

Director’s profile: 

Julia Parnell is an award-winning producer and documentary director. During 20 years working in the entertainment industry she has developed a singular ability to direct striking documentary with emotional depth, receiving local and international acclaim for her films and series. Well known for Loading Docs, a short documentary initiative which has amassed 14 million views worldwide and provides development for filmmakers. Julia is also a recipient of the WIFT Woman to Watch, NZIFF Best Short, Show Me Shorts Best Short & Best Web series. Her work has appeared in DocEdge, NZIFF, SFF, MIFF, SXSW, Tampere, Palm Springs, Bermuda, Rhode Island and Puchon film festivals.
