Synopsis:

Teenage girls Madina and Negin are studying music at the first and only music school in Kabul, Afghanistan’s National Institute of Music (ANIM), founded in 2010. They navigate their way between family criticism and Taliban threats. As a new European tour is coming up, both girls suddenly vanish. One day I receive a phone call: Madina wants to share her story.

Sahra Mani is a multiple award-winning lmmaker. Her full-length documentary lm, A thousand girls like me (2019) was screened at many lm festivals such as HotDocs, Shef eld, IDFA and won more than 25 awards worldwide including: Three GOLD Awards at New York Festivals TV & Film, One World Media Award 2019, Full Frame Film Festival, San Francisco Film Festival…
She works as a producer and director focus on human rights, equality and justice.
She has organized several lm festivals; training and mentoring in Afghanistan.
