Synopsis:

In the heart of the Alps, in the secrecy of the dark and cold night, women and men come to the aid of migrants crossing the french-italian border. In solidarity, they organize themselves illegally to escape police checks and the repression that rages on these mountain trails, to protect those risking their lives attempting to enter France.

Director’s profile:

Nael Khleifi was born in 1978 from a Palestinian father and a Belgian mother. Graduated in 2004 from the National Institute of Arts and Entertainment in Brussels – image section, Nael Khleifi start to work as a director of photography in documentary. He directed his first short fictional film (IN THE LAND OF GIANTS) featuring a newly arrived migrant in Lille also in 2004.
He then directed the documentary WAITING… (2011) in the Jungle of Calais. He continued his cinematographic work on migration issues with the feature documentary APLS in 2021.

Producer’s profile:

After studying in Paris, Alice Lemaire settled in Brussels to devote herself entirely to cinema. She worked for Wallonie-Bruxelles Images for two years to promote and export Belgian French-speaking films abroad.
Today, she works mainly as an independent producer for Michigan Films and Sourat Films and develops resolutely singular documentary and hybrid projects. She has accompanied numerous films selected in international festivals: UNE FILLE DE OUESSANT by Eléonore Saintagnan (Silver Sesterce at Visions du Réel 2018), D’UN CH TEAU L’AUTRE by Emmanuel Marre (Pardino d’Oro in Locarno 2018) and PETIT SAMEDI (Berlinale Forum 2020)
