Cannes Remakes unveils an exclusive selection of original films sourced from France, Spain and Italy — primed and ready to be remade into mesmerizing film adaptations.

The half-day event (20 May) at the CNC Beach will include a pitching session, a series of pre-arranged one-to-one meetings and a networking cocktail event, offering a dynamic opportunity for IP holders to connect with producers and buyers. 

Alongside the presentation of 11 selected film titles during the pitch session, individual meetings will feature a selection of 13 additional film catalogues. This compilation of titles aims to highlight the diverse range of European intellectual properties available for collaboration and investment.

Men on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

Synopsis:

Seven men from 17 to 70 years old.
All city-dwellers with nothing in common apart from the fact that they are all on the verge of a nervous breakdown. They meet up at a lonely station for an unusual course in the wild
that is supposed to get them back on their feet.
Each step in this boot camp, designed by an eccentric and feisty female coach, aims to reveal them to themselves.
The task seems to be a tough one, especially as nothing goes as planned between these men.

Director’s biography:

Audrey Dana is a French actress, screenwriter and director. She first made her name as an actress in Claude Lelouch’s Roman de gare. She then quickly tried her hand at directing, and her second film, French Women, at the French box office! In 2022, she returned to directing with Men on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, bringing together a cast of renowned actors in front of her camera. She will soon be appearing in the series Zorro, where she plays the role of Gabriella.

Producer’s biography:

Olivier Delbosc (born August 20, 1968 in Toulouse) is a French film producer. He heads Fidélité Films with Marc Missonnier. Olivier Delbosc creates his own production company, Curiosa Films, and produces mainstream feature films. In 2014, alongside Marc Missonnier, he was named by Télérama as one of the “Top 50” of those who “have the power and talent to raise money, give birth to films and make them popular”.

Born in 1973, Stéphan Castang is an actor, writer and director. His first feature, Vincent Must Die, premiered at Critics’ Week during Cannes Film Festival 2023 before being selected at several international film festivals, including Sitges, Busan and BFI London. It was also nominated for Best First Film at the César Awards 2024.

Gustave Kervern and Benoît Delépine form an iconic duo of contemporary French filmmakers. Their collaboration began on television and solidified with committed and offbeat feature films, sometimes absurd, such as Aaltra (2004) and Louise-Michel (2008), blending dark humor and social critique. Among others, they directed Mammuth (2010), Le Grand Soir (2012), Saint-Amour (2016), and En même temps (2022). Kervern and Delépine founded their production company No Money Production in 2005.

Les films du Worso, founded in 2003 by Sylvie Pialat, has produced 50 films with international directors, garnering 14 Cannes selections, 28 César nominations, and an Oscar nomination with Timbuktu. Director’s biography:

Régis Roinsard is a French director born in 1972 in Louviers. After studying at the Ecole Supérieure d’Etudes Cinematographics (ESEC), Régis began directing with his short films Les Petits-Salés (1995), Madame Dron (1997), SimOn (2001) and Belle, finally possible ( 2005). He also directs several music videos (Mareva Galanter, Jean-Louis Murat, Jane Birkin and Anaïs). In 2012 Régis directed his first feature film, Populaire, with Déborah François and Romain Duris. Hailed by critics, this film also earned him a nomination for the 2013 César in the best first film category. Then it will be The Translators in 2019 and Waiting for Bojangles in 2021.

Anna Novion, born to a Swedish mother and a French father, began her filmmaking journey while studying at the faculty of Saint-Denis. Crafting three short films between 2000 and 2004, she later delved into the works of Ingmar Bergman, culminating in a theoretical DEA. In 2008, her feature debut “Les grandes personnes” garnered acclaim at the International Critics’ Week. Novion’s storytelling, marked by empathy, explores the complexities of human relationships with simplicity and humor.

Miléna Poylo and Gilles Sacuto, founders of TS Productions in 1996, have led the charge in French and international filmmaking. With Anthony Doncque, Alice Bloch, Céline Loiseau, and Delphine Morel, they’ve produced 40 feature films, 60 documentaries, TV fictions, shorts, and ventured into series. Their accolades include 7 Césars for “Séraphine,” a César for Best Adaptation for “Mademoiselle Chambon,” and nominations for Oscars, César, and BAFTAs. Recent successes include “Tel Aviv on Fire,” awarded Best Actor at Venice, and “Sur l’Adamant,” winning the Golden Bear at the Berlinale.

Ignacio Estaregui (Zaragoza, 1978) made his feature debut with “Justi&Cia” (2014). It was nominated for best comedy at the II Feroz Awards (2015). In 2018 he released his second feature film “Miau”. In 2019 he released the multi-awarded short film “En racha”. He has just finished his expected third feature film, “RIDER”.

In 2013, Ignacio Estaregui founded with Gloria Sendino and Jaime García Machín, “Estaregui y Sendino & Machín”, a film production company that debuted in the feature film with “Justi&Cia” (2014), in 2018 they produced “Miau” and in 2024 “Rider”. Synopsis:

Three couples undergoing therapy are summoned by their psychologist to a meeting. The psychologist won’t be attending the reunion, but she will give them instructions about what to do. Thus, the six protagonists will gradually air their dirty laundry concerning their relationships and bring up issues like taking care of the kids, the different home tasks, money, jealousy and sex, until it all leads to a most unexpected and equally shocking end.

Since 1987, he has produced 175 fiction feature films and several documentaries for TV. As a producer, he has received many awards, including the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film for THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES directed by Juan José Campanella. As a director, he stands out with FRIENDS HAVE REASONS, which won the special jury prize at the Valladolid International Film Week. Also, ROUGH WINDS, awarded the Golden Biznaga for Best Film at the Málaga Film Festival, and with HEROÍNA, he was awarded Best Director by the Málaga Film Festival.

Additionally, his works as a screenwriter include “With all my heart” by Vincenzo Salemme, “Chi ha incastrato Babbo Natale?” by Alessandro Siani, “The boat” by Alessio Liguori, and “The last joint” by Giampaolo Morelli. “The War of the Grandpas” is his fourth feature film.

Marco Belardi is the producer behind several successful Italian films by directors such as Paolo Genovese, Paolo Virzì, and Gabriele Muccino, including Perfect Strangers (2016), Tutta colpa di Freud (2014), The Place (2017), Superheroes (2021), The first day of my life (2022), Like Crazy (2016), Notti Magiche (2018), There is no place like home (2018) and The Best Years (2020). Their first film, Metti la Nonna in Freezer (2018), was a hit comedy, ranking top 10 in box office. In 2019, they directed Bentornato Presidente. In 2022, they made their debut TV series, The Bad Guy, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, airing in 240 countries.

Nicola Giuliano, Francesca Cima, and Carlotta Calori are independent Italian producers who co-founded Indigo Film in 1994. Notably, they earned Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film for The Great Beauty (2013) by P. Sorrentino. Their achievements include David di Donatello wins for The Girl by the Lake (2007). Additionally, Il Divo (2008) won the Jury prize and Prix Vulcain at the Cannes Film Festival. Margherita Vicario is an actress and singer-songwriter from Rome. She graduated from the European Academy of Dramatic Art in 2009 and started working as an actress for film and TV: she acted in films for Fausto Brizzi, Antonio Mancini, Woody Allen and on TV for Lamberto Bava, Michele Soavi, Riccardo Donna. She made her directorial debut in 2024 presenting her film Gloria! in Official Competition at the Berlinale.

tempesta, founded by Carlo Cresto-Dina in 2009, produced all of Alice Rohrwacher’s feature, as well as the short films De Djess and Le Pupille. tempesta also produced all the features by Leonardo Di Costanzo and numerous films by young European authors selected and awarded at the most important international festivals. tempesta most recent production Gloria! by singer Margherita Vicario premiered in the International Competition in Berlinale 2024.
