🎬 Cannes Makers Announces 2nd Edition for Young Film Industry Professionals

The Marché du Film is thrilled to announce the second edition of Cannes Makers, a training and mentoring program aimed at shaping the next generation of international sales leaders.

Building on the success of the inaugural edition in 2023, Cannes Makers is once again offering an exceptional opportunity for aspiring industry professionals looking to explore the exciting world of international sales, distribution, and marketing.

The unique program provides a unique blend of practical training, networking opportunities, and thought-provoking dialogues with industry experts, who will provide the tools and insights needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive market.

In the previous year, Cannes Makers welcomed 11 young professionals under 30 from around the world, including Greece, Germany, Nepal, France, Ukraine, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia. After an immersive 3-day training experience in Cannes, a second session was also held as part of the Red Sea Labs program during the 2023 Red Sea Film International Film Festival.

Participants from the first edition of Cannes Makers expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude for the program.

Cannes Makers proved to be an exceptionally enriching and unique experience, allowing me to connect with cinema enthusiasts from across the globe and engage with brilliant industry guests,” expressed Angel Lama, a 2023 Cannes Makers participant from Nepal. “It was a true melting pot of creativity and a celebration of our shared love for the art of film.

Errika Zacharopoulou, from Greece, also added, “It was an incredible, insightful opportunity and one I will definitely cherish. We really got to learn from the best in the industry and build a network that we could use in the years to come. I can’t wait to explore more in the context of film promotion — and I can honestly say that I have grown particularly interested in acquisitions.”

Notable industry guests who took part in Cannes Makers included Efe Cakarel, CEO of MUBI; Vanja Kaludjercic, Festival Director at Rotterdam International Film Festival; Laura Nacher, Head of Sales Operations at The Match Factory; Rico Johnson-Sinclair, Skills & Training Director at Warner Bros Discovery; Alec Von Bargen, Creative Storytelling Mentor & Expert; Maria Tanjala, Co-Founder at FilmChain; and Juliette Vigoureux, Project Manager of The Shift Project and Founder of Film Fresk.

This year’s 3-day program will take place in Cannes during the Marché du Film — running from 14 to 22 May — and give Cannes Makers participants an immersive experience at one of the most prestigious film festivals and markets in the world.
