🎞️ Ventana Sur Projects to Premiere at the Berlinale 2024
Three captivating projects that were previously pitched at Ventana Sur — the leading market for audiovisual content in Latin America — are set to make their world premieres at this year’s Berlinale, running from 15 to 25 February!
Ventana Sur, co-organized by the Marché du Film and INCAA (National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts), is proud to present the following Berlinale-selected films:
Pepe

Pepe tells the captivating story of a young hippopotamus who was killed in the jungles of Colombia but returns as a ghost. This film was one of six works-in-progress showcased at last year’s Copia Final section.
Betânia

Betânia follows the journey of a 65-year-old family matriarch and her daughters as they return to the village where she was born. The film was originally presented in Ventana Sur’s pix-in-post section Primer Corte pitching program in 2022.
Memories of a Burning Body

Memories of a Burning Body portrays the story of Ana, Patricia, and Mayela, who, raised in a repressive era when sexuality was taboo, gradually found the meaning of femininity through unspoken rules and implicit impositions. The film was one of the award-winning projects showcased at last year’s Copia Final section.
Through its different sections, such as Primer Corte, Copia Final, Blood Window, Animation! and Proyecta, Ventana Sur has nurtured and established careers of many up-and-coming talents and is proud of becoming the place of opportunity for Latin American filmmakers to sign with major agencies, get their scripts sold, find funding or have their films distributed or programmed in other festivals.
