Cannes Remakes Announces the 2026 Selection: 14 Original Film IPs from France, Italy, Spain & Austria

Cannes Remakes returns for its 3rd edition, unveiling an exclusive selection of original film IPs sourced from France, Spain, Italy and Austria — ready to be reimagined into new film adaptations.

Cannes Remakes, an initiative launched by the Marché du Film in partnership with the CNC (French National Centre of Cinema & Moving Image), continues to strengthen the thriving international IP market in Cannes by fostering the circulation and adaptation of European intellectual properties for global audiences.

This year’s program presents its most extensive lineup to date, featuring 14 European IP titles. Returning institutional partners include the CNC; the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual – Italian Ministry of Culture (DGCA-MIC), in collaboration with Cinecittà; and the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), each showcasing their national selections. The Austrian Film Institute (ÖFI), in collaboration with Film and Music Austria (FAMA), joins this year’s edition for the first time.

Given the growing demand and profitability of remakes in today’s audiovisual landscape, Cannes Remakes offers a unique platform for discovering high-potential stories ready to be adapted for both the big screen and global streaming services.

The half-day event will take place on 18 May at the CNC Pavillion and will feature a pitching session, a series of pre-arranged one-on-one meetings, and an invite-only networking cocktail. This dynamic format provides an ideal opportunity for IP holders, producers, and buyers to connect and explore new collaboration opportunities around fresh European content.
