Cannes Docs Announces the 2026 Docs-in-Progress Jury & Award Supporters

From 15 to 18 May, the Docs-in-Progress showcases return to Cannes Docs at the Marché du Film, offering industry professionals an exclusive opportunity to discover a new wave of documentary projects from around the world.

The Docs-in-Progress program at Cannes Docs partners with institutions from around the world to exhibit their carefully selected “docs-in-progress” in the final stages of production, aimed to hit the circuit within a few weeks or months. Each of the 8 showcases features four projects, presented in the form of a live pitch and a 10-minute excerpt of the rough cut, designed to catch the attention of documentary decision-makers, festival programmers, and sales agents.

The program is guided by a distinguished jury and supported by a group of generous award supporters, whose contributions help amplify emerging voices and bring promising projects closer to completion.

This year’s Docs-in-Progress Jury is composed of:

  • Themba Bhebhe | Freelance Consultant, Strategic Advisor & Industry Programmer, Indigenous Cinema Alliance, Third Horizon
  • Fujioka Asako | Vice-chair, Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival
  • Paulina Portela | Founder & Director, Compañía de Cine

Ten diverse awards, providing filmmakers with vital funding, mentorship, and visibility, will be announced during the Docs-in-Progress Award Ceremony on Doc Day (19 May), made possible by The International Emerging Film Talent Fund, Al Jazeera Documentary, TransPerfect Media, Rise and Shine World SalesAlphapanda, Think-Film Impact Production, Rulli Putortì & Partners Law Firm, DAE – Documentary Association of Europe, joined this year by new award supporters American Documentary and Documentary Magazine.
