The 8th edition of Proyecta, the joint initiative of Ventana Sur, the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes and theSan Sebastian Festival, will host the presentation of 12 projects by filmmakers seeking funding and partners for their first or second films. Ventana Sur will take place in Buenos Aires from 1 to 5 December 2025.
During the event, project representatives will have the opportunity to meet production companies, international sales agents, and festival programming heads, with the aim of fostering co-productions between Europe and Latin America.
Proyecta will include in-person pitching sessions on Wednesday, 3 December, led by the main producers of each project, as well as other professional networking events.
This year’s selection represents a wide diversity of projects from Europe and Latin America, in both theme and geography. Seven of the selected projects are from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Panama, while five come from Germany, Romania, and Spain, reflecting an increase in European projects compared to previous editions. Among them, La boa y el bambú / The Boa and the Bamboo, by Maitane Carballo Alonso, and Houses are Silent, by Roxana Stroe, will have a new opportunity to be presented to an audience of professionals following their participation in the Europe–Latin America Co-Production Forum at the San Sebastián Festival.
Representatives of the selected projects will also have the opportunity to compete for various awards. One project will have the chance to participate in next year’s Sørfond Pitching Forum, where — if it meets Sørfond’s requirements — it may present the project to potential Norwegian co-producers, in addition to being automatically eligible to apply for Sørfond grants should it subsequently secure a Norwegian co-production.
Additionally, two producers of projects selected for the activity will be invited to the San Sebastián Festival in 2026. The projects will also compete for the Sideral Cinema Award, which consists of the pre-purchase of the international rights to one of the future films for a guaranteed minimum of €10,000. These awards complement other networking events designed to boost the internationalisation of the projects and help accelerate their development.
