Japan, the Marché du Film’s 2026 Country of Honour, is proudly represented in the 79th Festival de Cannes’ Official Selection

The Festival de Cannes has revealed its Official Selection for the 79th edition, and Japan — proudly named the Marché du Film’s 2026 Country of Honour — is making an impressive mark.

Featuring five exceptional titles in the Official Selection, this year promises a vibrant showcase of Japanese cinema, highlighting both the creative strength of its auteurs and the rich diversity of its storytelling — while also celebrating Japan’s status as the Marché du Film’s 2026 Country of Honour.

The Japanese titles selected in this year’s Official Selection include:
