🏆 MURALS Receives Prestigious Audience Award at BFI London Film Festival
The Marché du Film is thrilled to share the exciting news that MURALS has received the Audience Award for Best Art and XR at the BFI London Film Festival!
MURALS was one of 14 global projects showcased at the festival as part of this year’s LFF Expanded category, a curated selection of groundbreaking projects at the forefront of screen technology.
This extraordinary achievement celebrates the outstanding work of a creative team, including Aggressive’s visionary duo Alex Topaller & Dan Shapiro and Ukrainian 3D artist and creative Artem Ivanenko. Together, they have crafted a unique portrayal of the war in Ukraine, seamlessly interweaving Banksy’s art into the heart of the devastation. The result is a powerful visual immersive experience that utilizes cutting-edge 3D scanning technology, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and ushering in a new era of cinematic innovation.
MURALS first made its stunning debut at the Marché du Film’s 2023 edition as a significant highlight of the market’s Cannes Next and Ukraine in Focus programs, the former championing the forefront of technological advancements while the latter empowering Ukrainian talents during these challenging times.
It’s nowhere near time to rejoice, considering the state of the world, whether in Ukraine, the Middle East, or elsewhere in ongoing conflict zones. Still, I’m grateful that the message we wanted to convey resonated with audiences in France, London, and beyond. This not-for-profit art project is a source of immense pride for all of us.
— Sten-Kristian Saluveer, Head of Cannes Next and Executive Producer of MURALS
