On Saturday 17 May, the Marché du Film proudly celebrated the 4th edition of its Pavilion Design Award, an initiative that shines a spotlight on the creativity, commitment, and vibrant presence of the institutions that bring the Village International to life each year.
Created to honour the standout design and spirit of national and institutional pavilions, the award reflects the Marché’s appreciation for the imagination and effort that goes into transforming these spaces into hubs of culture, connection, and cinematic ambition during the nine days of the market.
This year’s jury brought together a dynamic mix of industry perspectives, with:
-
- Yi Chou (Cannes Makers alumni 2024)
- Elaine Guerini (Brazilian film critic & journalist)
- Leticia Godinho (Deputy Director for Business Dept. for Series Mania)
The jury visited 19 pavilions, representing a diverse range of countries and institutions: Morocco, Tunisia, China, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the Czech & Slovak Republics, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Canada (Telefilm), the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Israel and L’Institut Français.
Each pavilion contributes something unique to the Marché’s global energy, offering not only a physical space but also a cultural atmosphere where collaborations take root and new projects are born. This year’s winners captured that spirit brilliantly.
Special mentions were awarded to the pavilions of Iraq, Estonia, and the United Kingdom, each recognised for their distinct design and welcoming presence, while the Pavilion Design Award 2025 was presented to Egypt, which impressed the jury for its « beautiful balance of history and presence, and for incorporating a small movie theatre into its design to tell their cinema history and confirm their presence in the industry today. »
