Call for Composers is Open: Spot the Composer 2026 Returns to Cannes

The Marché du Film is delighted to announce the return of Spot the Composer, which is now inviting composers worldwide to apply to the program, taking place from 15 to 18 May 2026.

Each year, ten international film music composers are selected to take part in a curated professional program organized by the Marché du Film. The initiative offers them a unique opportunity to attend Cannes, showcase their musical talents, spark new collaborations, and take their careers to the next level.

Selected participants will take part in exclusive one-on-one meetings arranged with directors and producers seeking scores for their upcoming feature-length projects. The program is further enhanced by a panel and masterclass exploring the world of film scoring.

This year marks the seventh edition of Spot the Composer, which was launched in 2020 with the support of SACEM, the French collective body for music rights management.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants must be established composers with at least ten IMDb credits as the main composer, including at least two feature-length films.
• Composers can attend the STC program twice in total, with a minimum gap of three years between attendances.
• The program will select 10 participants from Europe and North America. However, applicants from other regions may be considered if they can secure a valid visa.
• Applicants must provide a DISCO playlist to validate their submissions (details below on how to access a free 3-month subscription). Choose tracks that best represent your various composition styles. Note that only the first 10 tracks from your playlist will be reviewed by the selection commitee.
• Participants must cover their own travel expenses to and from Cannes. Accommodation from 15 to 18 May (3 nights) and accreditation to the Marché du Film will be provided for the selected composers.
• Selected composers must commit to participate in the entire STC program, including all one-to-one meetings with directors.
• Only the selected composers will be notified directly via e-mail by 30 March 2026 about their selection. The other applicants will not receive any message.
• Selected composers will be featured on the Marché du Film website and the Spot the Composer webpage.
